Anglican Church Women (ACW)

St. Peter's Anglican Church Women was started in 1903, called W.A. or Women's Auxiliary.  Their purpose was to unite women in a fellowship of worship, study and offering which will deepen and strengthen their own spiritual lives and lead them into Christian service in Parish, Community, Diocese, Nation and the World.  Also to work for and sustain an informed interest in the Mission of the Church.

Our group was formed in 1903 with Mrs. C. H. Giles as President.  Our Parish Hall was started the same year.  In 1905 our parish group became affiliated with the Diocese of Fredericton.  At this time, St. Peter's Church was situated in the Parish of Kingsclear in the area called Springhill.  Many present ACW ladies are descendants of the original group of ladies.  Over the years, we have had members from our group participate locally, provincially and nationally in ACW meetings and some have held executive offices in each association.  When the name was changed to Anglican Church Women or ACW, it was done so to include all women members of our church whether they attended monthly meetings or not. 

We continue to function to this day with the motto "Launch Out Into The Deep" and to faithfully say the Members' Prayer...

"Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, who didst send Thy Blessed Son into the world to become The Saviour of mankind, grant to us a deep sense of gratitude for Thy Grace and Mercy towards us.  Enable us by Thy Spirit to reveal Thy Love in prayer and work and stewardship, so that Thy Salvation may become known to all peoples and Thy Name Glorified throughout all the Earth, through Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen"

Through food sales, caterings, bazaars, luncheons, fashion shows and teas we have raised funds with the very supportive help of the entire congregation through their time, food or monetary donations.
